GOBHI was created in 1994, when The Oregon Health Plan was formed, to manage the Mental Health Benefit of the Oregon Health Plan for rural Oregon. It is a member-owned Benefits Management Company (501 C 4) dedicated to assuring high quality services delivered through rural community behavioral health programs. It is the Oregon Health Plan Mental Health Benefit Provider for Baker, Clatsop, Columbia, Douglas, Gilliam, Grant, Harney, Lake, Malheur, Morrow, Sherman, Tillamook, Umatilla, Union, Wallowa, and Wheeler Counties.
The Counties of GOBHI constitute approximately 70% of Oregon’s land mass and 14.5% of its population. GOBHI is the only Mental Health Organization in Oregon that is also a Licensed Child Placing Agency and operates more than 25 therapeutic foster homes throughout rural Oregon. GOBHI’s local providers are encouraged to be creative and to build new services based on the strengths and successes of the client and the community. When new ideas lead to good outcomes, GOBHI spreads these practices to other rural providers.
